A Word from our Moderator

To all of God’s people,

In the words of some of the greatest men and women who have ever lived whose knowledge, understanding, and vocabulary of God greatly exceeds my own I repeat after them, “What a mighty God we serve.” Angels bow before Him and heaven and earth adore Him and as we embark on 2019 what more can be said, “What a mighty God we serve.”
This year the Association is positioning itself for another year of greatness. We are looking forward to meeting and serving the needs of the many churches that make up our Association. Our annual dates are already on the calendar and we hope you will make it your responsibility to participate with your presence as much as possible. The Association will continue to support as many of your church events as we can, and we will always keep you in our prayers as we ask the same from you.
Each body of the Association: Women’s Missionary & Education, Church School & Baptist Training Union, Youth Missionary, and Executive Branch have been diligently working as individual branches and collectively to maintain the Association’s theme “We do it all and we do it all exceedingly well.” Has it been easy? The answer to that I am sure you already know, but when we consider the cost for our own salvation, I know you would agree by saying, “I would not change a thing.” The work we do and the reason we do it, as Christians, some call it “vicarious suffering.” Suffering that is endured by one on the behalf of someone else, that is what Christ did for us!
We have high hopes, big dreams, the vision is yet alive, and 2019 is looking good. We are looking forward to what the Lord has planned for all of us this year and we want you to be a part of it. Please continue to keep up with the events of the Association, especially this year as we will celebrate the 140th anniversary of the Mattaponi Baptist Association of Virginia (1879) where it all began, Shiloh Baptist Church, Bowling Green VA.
Remember our convention is always after the third Sunday in July, it is my pleasure as the Pastor of Macedonia Baptist Church (7187 Macedonia Road Woodford VA 22580) to be your host church for the 2019 Convention 22—25 July. See you there!
Amazed by His grace!
